Circular Electronics - Circular by design, enabled by technology
E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream in Europe. According to the Global E-Waste Monitor 2024 report, the world generated 62 billion kg of e-waste in 2022, and since 2010 this number has been increasing by 2.3 billion kg annually. This is not only environmentally damaging, but also socially damaging with a vast majority (more than 75%) of the produced e-waste being undocumented and processed in unsafe conditions. Digitalization of products, IoT and AI are driving forces for this increase.
The big question: Can technology provide solutions to fundamentally shift the electronics industry from a linear 'take-make-dispose' model to a circular one?
This webinar will explore how the circular value chain of electronic products can benefit from technology innovations of today. We will dive into:
- development of materials and processes for electronic circular design
- the use of optics and photonics systems for enhanced extension of product life or material recovery.
