Microelectronic and Mikrosystems Technology

Smaller and smaller, more efficient, more reliable and at lower cost at the same time – these requirements not only determine today’s electronic market. It’s impossible to imagine our everyday live without complex, miniaturized electronic and optical systems. Equally you cannot imagine everyday live without microsystems technology, worldwide regarded a key technology of the 21st century. Microsystems and microsystems technology products offer wide-ranging perspectives and markets for industry and research.

In the Photonics Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg Microsystems Technology represents one of six activity fields. With around 40 companies and an excellent research infrastructure, in terms of microsystems technology, Berlin-Brandenburg is one of the strongest regions in Germany. Besides the traditional application fields of industrial, automotive, communications and medicine, new large areas like life science, facility management, production technology, and energy efficiency have opened up. Key topics in the region are

  • wide-bandgap semiconductors
  • power electronics
  • sensors
  • and system integration technology
